My Holy Ghost Baptism Experience - AyoOluwa Shalom
I sat 26th June 2020, this early morning and for a split moment my Bible page crossed my mind and the thought of what to place there today and I got the inspiration to share how I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. The special mark of my Christian walk and BORN AGAIN experience.
That is one story I have not really fully shared; maybe in bits depending on the context of discussion.
Looks like this will be the first time I will really share in details how my Christian Experience started.
I am so grateful to the Holy Spirit for reminding me details I didn't think I would remember.
So i know this write up is an assignment and has a divine purpose for a parent/parents, a child or an individual.
I pray God will be glorified.
I was born into a Christian family and raised by Christian parents of the orthodox pentecostal denomination. So I was quite familiar with the christian practices. That does not make me born again though.
By the time I was 10 or 11, I already heard about being born again. I first said the "accept Jesus as my Lord and saviour" in my Primary School. I think I was in primary 6, maybe age 10 or 11) during a school fellowship in my public primary school.
By age 13 I went to the boarding school. I had my struggles; I had the option to stay good or do otherwise , away from home and to so young. But the advise of my parents consistently rang to my ears; such as "Ranti omo eni ti iwo nse" meaning "Remember the child of whom you are" and most importantly, the grace of God helped and kept me.
I came home one holiday (maybe age 13 or 14 then) and my father started talking to me about the Holy Spirit. He gave me books to read and told me I can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit anywhere. That the Holy Spirit will make me strong in the spirit, in his words... "Emi mimo ma so e di alagbara ni pa ti emi".
The sound of what the Holy Spirit can do in my life sound so good I truly desired Him.
That I should just keep asking and if my tongue changes, I should not struggle with it.
Truly, i kept asking "Oluwa fun mi ni Emi Mimo re" (Yoruba) meaning "God give me your Holy Spirit".
Then the church organized an evening Holy Ghost/Pentecostal service and my father took me along.
Lo and behold, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. lt was an inexplanable experience. I lost control of myself. I was really baptized.
I felt so different and new! Trying to explain it but can't really describe it.
That marked the beginning of my Chriatian walk. I should be 14 or 15 then.
My Christian journey started ...
What has happened since then?...
This is going to be a really long story. Looks like a book will do justice to delivering my story!
My Daddy, God will honour you and reward you now and eternally for what God used you for in my life... i just realized you were my first PASTOR.
