What God says about LIES, LYING or LIARS?

 The followings are what we all need to know of what God says about lies, lying and liars....

1. lies is a character of the devil and when we lie, we portray ourselves as children of the devil.

John 8:44 ESV

(One who lies) You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

2. When we lie we bear false witness.

Proverbs 14:5 ESV

A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

Meanwhile, God has commanded us "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16)

3. It is a sign that our conscience is seared. That means we no longer feel bad when we do what is wrong. This is a dangerous state for a child of God. It leads to destruction

1 Timothy 4:2 ESV

Through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,...

4. Lying is a sign that we have not put off our old nature of sin. Because when we became born again (new creature in Christ) old things, which includes lying are passed away. We have become new creature (abiding in the Truth)

Colossians 3:9 ESV

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices.

5. When we lie, we do what God hates.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Prayer:

God help us, forgive all the lies we have said.

Restore the holy spirit in us to guide our tongues and utterances.

Help us to be truthful and to overcome situations that cause us to lie..
